We are located in New York City’s iconic Fulton Fish Market. While FultonFishMarket.com does not operate a store within the market, you can shop the seafood stands and purchase directly from the fishmongers onsite. The physical address is 800 Food Center Drive, Bronx, NY 10474.

Is Fulton Fish Market open to the public?
Yes! Fulton Fish Market is open to the public from 2:00 AM to 7:00 AM EST, Monday through Friday. It is a temperature-controlled facility, so be sure to bring warm clothes and rubber-soled shoes so you can browse in comfort.

What is the cost of shipping?
Free shipping for orders over $99 (after all coupons and savings are applied).

When will I receive my order?
We deliver all of our orders via Federal Express. Select your delivery date at checkout and we will be sure to deliver your product fresh and ready to enjoy.

Why can't I get delivery TOMORROW?
In short, because your fish hasn't even been landed yet. The freshest catch arrives at the Fulton Fish Market by midnight Monday - Friday, and is sold by 7:00 AM EST to some of the best restaurants in the world... AND YOU! Once you place your order, our fishmongers personally head out into the market at 1am to select your fish from the latest catch. As an example, if you select Tuesday delivery, your order is being selected from fish arriving at the market on Monday morning.

Why are there no MONDAY deliveries?
Because it won't be fresh enough for our standards. The Fulton Fish Market operates Monday - Friday from 1:00 AM - 7:00 AM EST, so any product delivered on Monday would have come out of the water on Thursday. That's plenty fresh for most seafood vendors, but not for us.

Do you ship to Hawaii or Alaska?
We currently only ship to the continental US, and do not ship to Alaska and Hawaii.

Do you ship internationally?
We do not currently ship internationally.

Do you ship to PO Boxes?
We are unable to ship to PO Boxes or FPO or APO addresses.

Do I need an account to place an order?
Nope! You can check out as a guest. However, creating an account lets you add products to your cart and checkout fast. You’ll also be able to track all your orders.

How is my order packaged?
Your seafood arrives carefully packaged in a 100% biodegradable, recyclable spun cotton, thermal-insulated liner within a corrugated box.
We only use food-safe, frozen gel packs to keep your seafood cold. Feel free to reuse your frozen gel packs. Select frozen items use dry ice and this is noted on our product pages.
The food itself comes in a variety of packaging types based on the item(s) you order.
You may notice some differences for the items that are shipped from our marketplace partners. These items are noted on our product pages.

Is the packaging sustainable? How can I dispose of my packaging?
Yes! We continuously strive to find the most sustainable options that provide you with the highest quality seafood.

The cotton liner is biodegradable. It can also be in store recycled as a #4 plastic anywhere that accepts household textiles. The cotton is 100% postindustrial content with no post-consumer. This is important b/c post-consumer cotton is not biodegradable because it has too much synthetic material in it. They also can be recycled anywhere that accepts household textiles. Here is some additional information on how to recycle the liner. If you would prefer to re-use the product here are some great ideas on how to do so!

The gel packs are food safe, non-toxic and can be consistently refrozen and reused. They can also be opened and used to water house plants. The plastic should then be thrown away. We are working on finding a film that is recyclable.

If your item is shipped with dry ice please be careful to not touch the dry ice with bare hands because contact can cause severe cold burns and frostbite. Instead, use thick gloves or tongs to remove the ice, and let it evaporate outside or in a well-ventilated area. Keep it away from children and pets. Do not put dry ice in tightly closed containers or down a drain.

If you do not see any dry ice remaining, then it has evaporated (dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide) but that doesn't necessarily mean your shipment is unsafe. Check if your seafood is still cold to the touch and contact us if you feel that your shipment did not arrive in good condition.

How does my order stay cold and fresh?
Our liner keeps the cold air in and warm air out. The frozen gel packs are used to keep your seafood cool and fresh. The combination of the liner, gel pack and cardboard box is designed to keep your seafood at the optimal temperature and prevent your fresh seafood from freezing. Select frozen items use dry ice and this is noted on our product pages.
To ensure the product arrives in perfect condition we conduct a variety of testing with different shipment lengths and different external temperatures.

Can I modify my order after it is placed?
As long as your modification comes in before 10:00 PM EST the day before it is to be shipped out, our customer service team will do their best to make the requested changes to your order. Visit the Contact Us page for information.

What if an item is UNAVAILABLE?
If you have elected to receive substitutions (see shipping section of checkout), on rare occasions when product is not available in the market or not of sufficient quality (most commonly due to weather), our fishmongers will select the best available substitute based on taste, texture and cooking attributes. If a substitute is available we will notify you when the order ships, and the price will be adjusted if the substituted item is less expensive than your original item.

If our fishmongers are aware of availability issues in advance or your order shipping, our Customer Experience team will contact you to review your options. In the event that last-minute changes occur, we will not be able to contact you proactively because this process occurs between 1:00 AM and 7:00 AM EST each day.

If an adequate substitution is not available - or if you have elected to not receive substitutions - your order will ship without the unavailable item(s) and a refund will be issued.

How do I track my order?
Our orders are generally shipped via Federal Express. Once your order has been shipped, you will receive an email with the tracking number for your order.

What is your return policy?
We want to make sure you are happy with your order. Please contact us with your order number. Our team will ask you about your order, and may request photos of the products/box, so please hold on to all packaging and products.

What if there is an issue with my order?

Can I FREEZE my fresh items?
Yes! With the exception of shellfish, items that are arriving fresh (as noted on the product page and your order confirmation) have never been frozen and may be put in the freezer in the same packaging in which it is received. If you're planning to freeze any products in your order, we recommend that you put them in the freezer immediately upon receipt.

How do I store my seafood?
Once your FultonFishMarket.com box arrives, open it up and inspect your seafood. The contents should be cool to the touch (below 40°F).
Fresh fish should be placed in the refrigerator. If you do not intend to use the fish within a day or two, you can freeze your fish for later use.
Live shellfish and crustaceans including oysters, clams and mussels should be placed on a baking tray or bowl, covered with a damp cloth and placed in your refrigerator.

Can I re-freeze product that has thawed?
Yes, but it depends. If products thaw in cold temperatures they can be refrozen but if products thaw in warm temperatures (>40°F) they should not be refrozen. Here is some additional guidance from the USDA on this topic. This typically means that it is safe to refreeze products that have thawed in a refrigerator but not products that have thawed at room temperature or been quick thawed under cold water. This applies to raw seafood and seafood that has been cooked. You can also re-freeze products that have been partially thawed. You should also not refreeze products that have thawed in a vacuum sealed package or otherwise state that they should be kept frozen on the packaging. If these products are thawed in cold temperatures they can be consumed within a couple of days but not refrozen.

Another consideration is the impact on quality and texture after refreezing. The level of impact depends on the item, how long the product has been thawed out for and your preferences. For example, if your seafood has already been in the refrigerator for 2-3 days it is reaching the end of it's shelf life and re-freezing it will only further degrade the quality. We also do not recommend re-freezing items like super frozen seafood that is meant for sushi.

In general, we find that customers prefer fresh seafood whenever possible and encourage you to start by exploring our large selection of fresh seafood! We are also fans of frozen product since it allows us to offer items year round that are not available fresh, keep more seafood readily available at home and offer a lower priced alternative in some areas.

Are whole fish cleaned before shipping?
Yes, all whole fish are gutted, descaled, and dressed (side and top fins are removed) before being shipped, unless specified otherwise.

I am looking for a specific product, but do not see it on the site. Can you get it?
If you do not see something you are looking for, please contact our customer service team at 718-842-8908. If it is available in the market, we will try to add it to our store.

Why are some products not available at times?
Occasionally, you will find one of our fresh, delicious and healthy seafood selections out of stock or out of season. Sometimes the fish simply aren’t biting! Other reasons why the item might be out of stock include but are not limited to weather related issues that prevents boats from going out, logistics issues that prevent an item from arriving to the market as scheduled, seafood that is not up to our quality standards or that there is more demand then expected.

Is your fish wild or farmed?
We source the best, freshest fish in the world. Every product page clearly specifies if the product is wild or farmed in the product description.

How much seafood should I serve?
The short answer is it depends but here are some helpful tips.

  • The FDA recommends a minimum of 8oz of seafood per week. A serving of seafood is considered 4oz. Keep in mind that as product cooks it will lose some of it's weight.
  • When planning for events it's helpful to keep the following rule of thumb in mind. Each adult will typically consume about 1 lb of food total and children will consume about 1/2 lb. Typically people will consume a bit more during evening events. How much seafood you purchase will depend on what else you are serving. For seafood entrees we recommend about 8oz of product (before cooking) per person and for appetizers we recommend about 4oz product (before cooking) per person. For whole fish this equates to about 1 lb per person since there will be some portions of it that typically are not consumed.

Should I avoid seafood because of Mercury?
Definitely not! Mercury is a naturally occurring element that finds its way into all living things in small quantities. There has been unwarranted concern around mercury in seafood. The general consensus is that the benefits of eating seafood far outweigh the risks. The vast majority of popular seafood is low in mercury. For most groups of people, mercury in seafood is not a concern and for select groups there are ways to manage the risk.

Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as breastfeeding mothers and parents and caregivers feeding children 2 years and older can make informed choices when it comes to fish that are nutritious and safe to eat by following FDA published guidance here. In general, they recommend that these groups eat 8-12oz of a variety of seafood each week due to it's fantastic health benefits and the wide selection of low mercury options. Check out the link to see a list of many of those low mercury options and some where consumption should be limited or avoided for those groups. When consuming seafood caught by friends and family in local waters, it is best to check local advisories.

Sushi is a simple food with complex flavor and devotees that span the globe. But, what is sushi, and how can you purchase seafood that may be eaten raw?

"Sushi" or "sashimi-grade" are common terms used to identify seafood considered "ready to be eaten raw". However, there is no official, regulated standard for these terms. Many seafood lovers prefer the delicate textures and flavors of raw seafood found in sushi and sashimi dishes. So how can you enjoy sushi with less risk?

Considerations for Choosing Raw Seafood

The FDA cautions against consuming seafood raw, as it can harbor parasites, bacteria, and viruses that could potentially make consumers sick. According to the FDA, superfreezing seafood in a commercial sub-zero storage freezer helps ensure parasites are destroyed, and that is required for many species of seafood to be consumed raw. When it comes to consuming raw fish one note is that it's best to focus on saltwater (marine) fish since many freshwater fish are susceptible to tapeworms. The full FDA guidance can be found here.

Buy your seafood from a trusted source such as FultonFishMarket.com. All of our seafood is chef-selected for quality and freshness, but it is not all suitable to be eaten raw without further preparation. The FDA Food Code exempts wild Ahi Tuna species from the superfreezing requirement. It also, exempts aquaculture (farmed) fish, like salmon or kanpachi given verification that the feed it's raised on is parasite-free.
