The Cuttlefish, sometimes called the Sepia fish, is in the same family as squid and calamari. They have a tender, meaty, somewhat chewy texture and mild flavor, that can be described as a cross between octopus and squid. Cuttlefish very easily pick up other flavors so are well suited for marinades. The quick-cooking high heat methods of grilling, sautéing, or deep frying are best as Cuttlefish can become tough if overcooked.

  • Cuttlefish can replace calamari or squid in most recipes.
  • Our cuttlefish is wild-caught and shipped frozen.
  • Nearly all parts of the cuttlefish are edible, including the ink!
  • Scoring the cuttlefish prior to cooking will allow heat to penetrate quickly and evenly.
