In the style of an old Scandinavian tradition, we’re pleased to offer you this excellent Gravlax, frozen for your convenience. Seasoned with dill and other flavorings, you’ll find it buttery, mild and slightly sweet. If you enjoy smoked seafood of any kind, you’ll include it in your repertoire.
The word “gravlax” comes from the Swedish word for “trench” (grav) and “salmon” (lax). Its roots come from the former practice of burying the salmon in salt in a hole in the ground.
Thaw your frozen Gravlax in the refrigerator overnight. Then slice it thinly and serve it on any crispbread with a creamy dill and mustard sauce. We also like it open-faced on a hearty brown bread, served with a dollop of sour cream.
Gravlax may be an old-world tradition, but its fits in with today’s healthy lifestyles as an excellent source of protein, Omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin E and protein, as well as a good source of Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin B-6, Vitamin B-12, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Iron and Calcium.
