Farmed caviar helps alleviate pressure on wild populations and provides pristine diet and filtered water conditions. Wild caviar, when harvested sustainably, supports healthy ecosystems and biodiversity. Whether farmed or wild, choosing a reputable supplier ensures you get delicious caviar that you can feel good about.

Caviar Storage Information

To preserve the quality and flavor of your caviar, please follow the instructions below to maintain its freshness:

  • If your perishable items arrive with melted ice packs, don’t worry. The ice packs are wrapped in plastic and housed in a Styrofoam cooler to keep your products fresh. The sealed boxes maintain a cool environment, ensuring product quality during delivery.
  • Refrigerate sturgeon caviar at or below 40°F. Salmon and trout roe can also be frozen for up to 1 year.
  • Unopened, all caviar and roe last up to 6 weeks. Once opened, consume within 3 to 5 days.
  • An oily residue is normal and won’t affect quality; just wipe it away with a damp cloth.

Caviar Serving Tips

  • Use a mother-of-pearl or non-metallic spoon to preserve the delicate flavor, as metal can oxidize and damage the pearls.
  • The ideal serving size is 7-28 grams (¼-1 oz) per person.
  • Caviar is best served chilled, so place the container on a bed of ice.
  • Try the traditional method of tasting caviar by placing a small amount on the back of your hand between your thumb and index finger—caviar enthusiasts swear by this technique to fully appreciate its subtle nuances.
  • Popular garnishes include chopped chives, red onions, sliced pickles, and lemon slices.
  • The classic pairing for caviar is champagne or vodka.
